Vikas Bahl
Biography
Vikas Bahl is a celebrated Indian film producer, screenwriter, and director, known for his significant contributions to Bollywood. A former head of UTV Spot Boy, he later co-founded Phantom Films alongside Anurag Kashyap, Vikramaditya Motwane, and Madhu Mantena, producing critically acclaimed movies under its banner. With three National Film Awards and a Filmfare Award to his credit, Vikas rose to fame with his directorial ventures such as Chillar Party (2011) and Queen (2014). The latter, a cultural phenomenon, earned him the Filmfare Award for Best Director and widespread acclaim. His other notable works include Shaandaar (2015), Super 30 (2019), and Ganapath Part 1 (2021), which solidified his position as a versatile storyteller.
Born in Lajpat Nagar, Delhi, Vikas pursued his education at Ramjas College, followed by an MBA from the Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies in Mumbai. His career began in advertising, with roles at Ogilvy & Mather and Radio Mirchi, before transitioning to the film industry. Starting with production roles in movies like Black (2005) and Aamir (2008), he gradually shifted to direction, debuting with Chillar Party. Apart from his directorial feats, Vikas has produced and written for numerous acclaimed films, including Lootera (2013), NH 10 (2015), and Manmarziyaan (2018).
